The Family Handyman - Unordered book arrived
why did i get a book from you when I know 100% that I did not order. Enclosed was a bill for $10.00.
Now what do you want me to do with it. Is this a new practice to send out books that were not ordered? I think this was a practice many years ago by publications. I thought this was a reputable company.
Not sure how many more details are needed to fulfill this 100 word complaint.

Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country. Now I guess I need to complain about the complaint service here.

I also receive books I did not order and I am getting really mad about this
I received the 2021 "Do-It-Yourself Basics" yesterday after canceling my magazine subscription a month ago. With a bill!
Received similar book earlier this year without a bill that I could find. Received a book 2 years ago, unsolicited, and after not paying for it for many months and receiving numerous invoices I called and they zeroed out the balance. I don't pay for things that I don't order. When the package says "Free Gift Inside" I open it.
When I find out I didn't order it and they bill me for it, I just keep it. I now have 4-5 Handyman books on a shelf in the garage.
Same situation here. 12-22-2021 I received an unsolicited book from The Family Handyman book services which is still unopened and has a bill for $27.90 attached to it.
Today, 12-23-2021, I called 800-344-****. I told the rep that I didnโt order this book and didnโt want it. She told me to keep it as a gift from The Family Handyman and that she has removed me from receiving any future books and removed the balances due.
I was also told that I should disregard any further bills related to this book. I no longer respect The Family Handyman company for their underhanded tactics to trap their customers into situations like this.

Same here. Didn't order any book from Family Handyman.
Yet here it is, with a bill.
I'm not opening it and am marking it "REFUSE DELIVERY". Postal Service will send it back.

I recived a book which i did not order
Hello law101pd. We don't send hard cover books out unless we receive an order for one.
Perhaps you thought you were responding to a magazine offer, when in fact it was a book order....Or you previously took advantage of a $10.00 intro offer to the book program and you didn't respond to our letter stating the next book in the program was on it's way.
You can email customercare@familyhandyman.com and our representatives can remove you from the book program. Thank you.
That is a blatant lie. I also ordered a magazine subscription which I paid for in full at the time of order.
Shortly after I received a book that was not requested along with a bill or telling me I could send it back. Under law a consumer is not required to pay for something they receive unsolicited, so I trashed it. For month I received bills for this book a couple which I returned with not ordered printed across them....until today when I receive a notice threatening to turn me over to collections. I then called the number on the bill.
First she tried to tell me that I subscribed to their books by purchasing the first one. I informed her that the only thing I purchased was a magazine subscription and that under law a person is not required to pay for something sent to them unsolicited. I then told her that if the bill was turned over to collection I would be filing suit against them.
She immediately told me she would be removing the charge from my account. I will not be renewing my magazine subscription and if this is how you do business, there should be a class action suit file against your company for deceptive trade practices.
